1- Provides services to foreign consular institutions in Xiamen;
2- Coordinates the city's exchange activities with foreign diplomatic offices in China;
3- Oversees, coordinates, and manages interactions between various departments, units, and foreign embassies and consulates in China.
4- Handles matters related to foreign governments establishing consular or representative offices in Xiamen;
5- Guides the management of the consulate area in Xiamen;
6- Participates in the management of foreigners in Xiamen and assists in handling relevant foreign-related security affairs;
7- Co-processes major cases happening in Xiamen that involve foreign people and legal persons；
8- Co-handles unexpected events in overseas areas concerning Xiamen and consular protection of overseas Xiamen citizens and legal persons.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
