Chinese consul general in Frankfurt has first official meeting with mayor of Trier

Huang Yiyang, consul general of the People's Republic of China in Frankfurt, Germany, had his first official meeting with Wolfram Leibe, mayor of Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, on Oct 9.

Huang said he was delighted to visit the hometown of Karl Marx and pointed out that the sister-city relationship between Trier and Xiamen has yielded fruitful results.

Huang also expressed his gratitude to Leibe for the support provided to China over the years. 

Huang, who is the new consul general in Frankfurt, added that he is keen to work with Leibe to further promote exchanges and cooperation in culture, tourism, trade and other fields so as to contribute to the healthy and stable development of Sino-German relations.

Leibe congratulated Huang on his new position and said that Trier has always valued its friendly relations with China. The sister-city relationship with Xiamen is one of the most important and well-developed foreign affiliations Trier has, he added. 

He pointed out that Xiamen had during the COVID-19 pandemic provided essential epidemic prevention materials to Trier, an act that clearly demonstrated the profound friendship between the two cities.

The economy of Trier relies heavily on international cooperation. Given the many uncertainties faced in the current global situation, Trier is looking forward to joining forces with China to elevate cooperation in various fields.
