Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport

aa.jpgSituated at the north-east of the island, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is 12 kilometers away from the city's downtown area. It now has 33 airlines dispatching more than 180 flights every week from Xiamen to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guilin, Kunming, Qingdao, Nanchang, Hangzhou, Xi'an, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Changzhou, Hefei, Dalian, Shenyang, Harbin, Changchun, Lanzhou, Zhengzhou, Urumqi, Shenzhen, Jinan, Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore, and other Asian cities.

Founded in March 1984, Xiamen Aviation Co now handles both passenger and cargo business, and acts as an agent for the Xiamen flights of CAAC and other airlines. Airlines such as China Eastern and the Hong Kong-based Dragonair have all established offices in Xiamen.

Xiamen Port

Xiamen Port is a port of vast area, deep water, and mild waves. It is ice-free and generally unsalted, with a 64.5-kilometer natural coast line around the port area and at least 12-meters of depth. Ships with 100,000 tons of cargo capacity can be anchored at the inner port, while 50,000-ton ships can pull in for loading and offloading. Xiamen Port now possesses 37 docks and wharves ranging from small to large, of which four (including one container dock) are for 10,000 to 50,000-ton, and eight for 1,000 to 5,000-ton vessels. A railway line for special use is available within the port area. At present, Xiamen is open to maritime services to 50 ports of more than 30 countries and regions including Australia, Japan, Singapore, the United States, and Canada. Regular cargo services between Xiamen, Hong Kong and Japan, as well as regular passenger services from Xiamen to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Wenzhou, and Guangzhou, are available.

Railways

Xiamen is well connected to other cities of the country through the Yingtan-Xiamen Railway, which is linked up with the nationwide railway network. Direct passenger services are available between Xiamen and Shanghai, Nanjing, Hefei, Fuzhou, Nanchang and Yingtan.

In addition to the well facilitated Xiamen Railway Station, Xiamen Gaoqi Railway Station has been extended for transportation of import and export goods.

Highways

The Fuzhou-Xiamen and Zhangzhou-Xiamen highways link Xiamen with other cities in Fujian province and the provinces of Guangdong, Jiangxi and Zhejiang. Xiamen boasts a diversified highway transportation system. Deluxe limousine and light bus services are provided every day between Xiamen and Fuzhou, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, Longyan, Shantou, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Container freight services are also available between Xiamen and Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The Xiamen Bridge, spanning the straits, has been put into use, greatly facilitating the highway traffic and transportation capacity of Xiamen Island.

Electricity Supply

The Xiamen power network is an important part of Fujian province. Its electricity is mainly supplied by the provincial network. There are three local reserved power plants with a total capacity of 133,000 kilowatts. The power supply of the local network has five voltage grades: 220 KV, 110 KV, 35 KV, 10 KV and 0. 4 KV within the network. There are three 220 KV, ten 110 KV, and eleven 35 KV transformer stations in operation. Foreign investment projects and key State construction projects will be given preference in survey, design, construction, installation and electricity supply on condition that the power supply is feasible.

Communications

Xiamen boasts convenient telecommunication services with an automatic telephone exchange system, linking up 182 countries and regions and most domestic cities.
