1. Xiamen Party secretary met consul-general of Singapore

Hu Changsheng, secretary of the Communist Party of China Xiamen committee, met with Chi Chiew Sum, consul-general of Singapore in Xiamen, and Nelson Ng, the incoming consul-general, in Xiamen on Aug 25.

Hu spoke highly of Chi's contributions to promoting bilateral ties between Xiamen and Singapore during his tenure and extended a warm welcome to Ng.

"This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Singapore. Xiamen will work with the Consulate General of Singapore to deepen cooperation between the two sides in improving the business environment, building a new airport, and the aviation maintenance industry," Hu said.

Chi thanked the Xiamen government for its support to the Consulate General of Singapore and suggested that there is ample room for bilateral cooperation in shipping, urban construction, public health and education.

Ng also promised that he will spare no efforts to boost exchange between his country and the coastal city in East China's Fujian province after his inauguration.

Hu Changsheng, secretary of the Communist Party of China Xiamen committee, met with Pirawat Atsavapranee, the newly appointed consul-general of Thailand in Xiamen on Aug 25.

Hu welcomed the consul-general and reviewed the efforts that the Consulate General of Thailand has made to promote exchange in economy, culture and education between Xiamen and Thailand since its establishment in 2005.

Hu said the two sides should grasp the opportunities brought about by the Belt and Road Initiative and Thailand's East Economic Corridor to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence, big data, smart city, as well as culture and tourism.

Atsavapranee said that Xiamen boasts fast economic and cultural development and rich experience in environmental protection, city governance, and innovation, which Thailand can learn from. He also shared Thailand's success in hotel management and port operations.
