Cross-Straits Leisure Agriculture Forum

The Cross-Straits Leisure  Agriculture Forum will explore the development of leisure agriculture through  cooperation of mainland and Taiwan.

The forum is expecting 250  government officials, industry experts, company representatives, and members of  the media from China and more experts from abroad.

Date: Sept  8

Location: 4th floor, Xiamen  International Convention and Exhibition Center, Xiamen, Fujian  province

Mediator: Chiu Yi, Taiwan  economist 

Speakers: Zhang Yucheng, chairman of  the board of the Taiwan Agricultural Brand Promotion Association, who is  expected to discuss the development of leisure agriculture in Taiwan; and Yu  Zhijun, the chairman of the XinHaiXi (Xiamen) Tourism Planning and Management  Operations Co, who is expected to describe the design of leisure agriculture  projects on the mainland and Taiwan. 

Leisure agriculture in Taiwan

Leisure agriculture was introduced  to Taiwan back in the early 1980s and has gradually encompassed a variety of  business models such as forest tours, educational programs, environment  protection projects and folk culture experiences.

Taiwan now has 1,300 leisure farms  that offer at least 200,000 job opportunities. And the industry has become an  important part of the province’s local economy and carries a lot of weight in  its economic growth.
