Recommendations wanted for Nanyang Cultural Festival


The 5th Nanyang Cultural Festival will kick off on April 23. The event is co-hosted by the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Xiamen Municipal Government, and the consulate generals of the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

The festival is held to mark the friendship between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The main aim of the fair is to develop exchanges and cooperation in areas of tourism, culture and economy and trade between Xiamen and ASEAN countries.

The festival features cultural and art performances, a Nanyang commodity fair, food festival and movie exhibition. Ten Southeast Asian nations of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam will participate in the festival.

Ten high-end hotels will be selected in Xiamen as venues to host the food exhibitions of the ten countries.

The sponsor plans to collect suggestions and proposals regarding the selection of host hotels and how to enhance exchanges and cooperation between Xiamen and ASEAN countries, and help locals and tourists explore the cuisine and culture of Nanyang .

The deadline of proposals is Feb 23, 2016. Application forms can be sent to the cuisine committee via fax and a call to the committee can be made to ensure the form has been received.
