Yu Weiguo, Party chief of Fujian, on Thursday, called for more efforts to build Xiamen into an innovation hub, a pivotal city bolstering the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road as well as a spearhead in the nation's new round of reform and opening-up.
Xiamen in East China's Fujian province came in second on the recent list of 10 of the World's Best Places to Visit for 2019 launched by the Austrian daily Oesterreich.
Wojciech Zajaczkowski, ambassador of Poland to China, visited Xiamen, Fujian province from Jan 10 to 11.
A total of 13,018 vessel trips were made between Xiamen and Kinmen, an islet in Taiwan in 2018, transporting 1.745 million passengers in total, up 8.1 percent year-on-year, the latest statistics from the Xiamen port authorities show.

A total of 36 trips have been run by ships of Silk Road Maritime Co in 15 days after the new logistics facilitation platform was launched in Xiamen, Fujian province on Dec 24, local media reported.
