"The commitment of this forum to promote mutual understanding and cooperation by cities from both countries are commemorative," said John McKinnon, New Zealand ambassador to China, during a keynote speech at the forum's opening ceremony.
A total of 635 investment promotion organizations and business associations from more than 100 countries and regions will send delegations over the course of the fair.
Aiming at boosting the Asia-Pacific economies, the summit will discuss investment challenges and opportunities and launch a mid-term program to facilitate business cooperation among the countries along the Maritime Silk Road.
This year, the summit will cover topics related to the construction of Chinese free trade zones and Chinese entrepreneurs in overseas countries and regions, and is expected to be attended by 300 delegates.
Apart from the main forum which is on the topic of intellectually building a new international investment landscape, the organizers will also hold five sub-forums, covering topics of the Belt and Road Initiative, free trade zone construction as well as the Internet Plus program, a new business model combining the Internet with traditional industries.
