Thai Airways flight TG611 departed Xiamen for Bangkok on Oct 25, marking the carrier's return to the route after a six-year hiatus.
Thai Airways operates the service with its first Airbus A321neo, flying on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Previously, only Xiamen Airlines served the route.
With this resumption, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport now has two carriers flying to Bangkok, giving travelers more options and greater flexibility. Bangkok also offers convenient connections to popular Thai destinations such as Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Krabi.
In addition, South Korea's Eastar Jet will launch several new direct routes from Xiamen, with a Xiamen-Incheon service beginning on Oct 28, followed by a Xiamen-Busan route on Oct 29, operating twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays with a flight time of about 2.5 hours.
A Xiamen-Cheongju route is set to open on Dec 3, with flights operating on Thursdays and Sundays and a flight time of 3 hours.
The Korea Tourism Organization said the new routes will give travelers more destination choices and greater convenience when visiting South Korea.
