A media delegation from Turkmenistan visited Xiamen on Sep 13, touring the Xiamen Marine High-Tech Industrial Park and the Xiatanwei Mangrove Park to see the city's dynamism firsthand, from its marine economy to its ecological conservation.
Throughout the visit, delegates praised Xiamen's achievements in marine economic development and ecological governance. "Xiamen has not only protected its marine environment in ways suited to local conditions, but also made great progress in dealing with marine waste," one member said.
At the industrial park, the Marine Economy Science and Technology Innovation Building and the Fujian Ocean Innovation Center gave delegates a clearer picture of Xiamen as a maritime city, including its marine industry layout and technological advances.
At Xiatanwei Mangrove Park, the focus shifted from developing the ocean to protecting it, with the well-preserved coastal environment and mangrove conservation efforts leaving a strong impression on the delegates.
"Xiamen combines marine ecological governance with raising public awareness of marine conservation — that's a great thing," said Bagul Bekchanova, a Turkmen blogger.
China has extended its 240-hour visa-free transit policy and Hainan's 30-day visa-free entry policy to citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam, the National Immigration Administration said on Aug 20.
