The opening ceremony of the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program: International Cardiovascular Specialists Training Program was held in Beijing on Aug 11.
Lei Pili, deputy head of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA)'s Global Development Promotion Center (GDPC), and Wang Yan, president of Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University, attended and delivered remarks at the ceremony.
Trainee representatives from Nepal and Mozambique also spoke at the event.
The training program was designed and initiated by CIDCA and organized by GDPC. It builds on the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program, a project under the Global Development Project Pool, and is primarily intended for medical professionals from Chinese-aided hospitals overseas.
Fifteen healthcare experts and senior cardiology specialists from ten countries — including Lesotho, Nepal, and Rwanda — will take part in a 30-day training program in Beijing and Xiamen. Through lectures, panel discussions, and site visits, the program will cover China's approach to health-related development cooperation, as well as advanced practices in cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment.
China's latest departure tax refund measures will allow overseas visitors to obtain instant refunds across more regions and give them up to 28 days to leave the country, making multi-city trips easier and encouraging longer stays and greater spending.
Uruguay will grant visa-free entry to Chinese citizens.
