A cultural exploration and calligraphy-painting exchange event for foreign talent was held in the Zhongshan Road neighborhood of Xiamen on June 30. More than 30 experts from Italy, Russia, France and other countries took part, experiencing the charm of Minnan (Southern Fujian) culture as they wandered through the century-old streets and lanes.
After taking in a panoramic view of Gulangyu Island from the seventh floor of the Lujiang Hotel, they wandered through the historic Zhongshan Road. At Qiaopi Square, they heard the poignant stories of family loyalty and patriotic sentiment behind the overseas Chinese remittance letters from Fujian. The journey ended at the Tau Bi Loo Thau, where they had a lighthearted interaction with a smart robot — a vivid glimpse into how this traditional neighborhood is embracing modern life.
Following the city tour, the foreign experts moved on to an immersive workshop featuring traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting. The city's celebrated artists, Lin Sheng, Zhou Yu, and Dong Ping, offered live demonstrations and step-by-step instructions. The participants eagerly picked up their brushes and practiced each stroke with enthusiasm, filling the room with energy and excitement.
Peng Lei, a French entrepreneur who has been based in Xiamen for nearly two decades and runs an outdoor products company in Tong'an district, observed that the city's pleasant environment and well-established industrial infrastructure have created an ideal setting for business growth.
