Diplomatic envoys from Guinea-Bissau, Samoa, Norway, Vietnam, Nicaragua, and Indonesia visited Fujian province from May 18 to 23 at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, traveling to Fuzhou, Pingtan, and Xiamen to explore the historical and cultural ties between Fujian and Taiwan and to see firsthand how cross-Strait integration is being put into practice.
In Xiamen, the envoys visited the Xiamen–Kinmen Bridge Smart Center and Wutong Ferry Wharf to see how the city is advancing cross-Strait integration and creating a "one-day living circle" between Xiamen and Kinmen.
They also viewed the exhibition on Fujian–Taiwan archival documents in Jimei district, which offers historical evidence of close ties between the two regions. The delegation later went to Xiamen University, where they discussed cross-Strait relations and related issues with scholars and experts.
The envoys said this visit gave them a full picture of Fujian's role in promoting cross-Strait integration, preserving maritime heritage, and opening up to the world. They were impressed by the province's progress in advancing Chinese modernization and building a demonstration zone for cross-Strait integrated development.
The delegation members said they plan to facilitate greater cooperation among their countries and Fujian, particularly in areas such as the Belt and Road Initiative and sustainable marine development.
China has decided to extend visa-free entry for Russian citizens until Dec 31, 2027, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said on May 20.
The measures upgrade an earlier policy released in 2025 and are designed to make the process "more convenient, faster and easier" for foreign shoppers, according to an official notice.
