The 2026 Wanda Diamond League Xiamen unfolded on May 23 at the Egret Stadium, where 162 elite athletes from 44 countries and regions competed in front of more than 20,000 spectators.

The event produced two Diamond League Records (DLR), seven Meeting Records (MR), seven World Season Leads (WL), one World U20 Record (WU20R), two Area Records (AR), and four National Records (NR) — delivering an electrifying show for global audiences.

The event featured five warm-up competitions: men's and women's 100m, men's and women's 4×100m relay, and mixed 5000m, with a total of 123 amateur athletes competing, allowing local runners to share the track with professional elites.

The main program included 14 Diamond League disciplines: men's 100m, 400m, 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 5000m, long jump, and shot put; and women's 200m, 100m hurdles, 1500m, 3000m steeplechase, high jump, discus throw, and javelin throw. A total of six world record holders, 14 Olympic champions, and 33 world champions took part.

Yan Ziyi, an 18-year-old from Ningbo, stunned the track and field world with her very first throw — 71.74 meters — recording the second-best women's javelin throw in history.

Seven world season-leading marks were achieved across four events at the competition.
