A flight carrying 161 passengers departed from Xiamen for Bangkok on May 12, bringing the total number of passenger trips between Xiamen airport and Belt and Road partner countries this year to 1,000,100, marking a 17-day earlier start than in 2025 and setting a new record for the fastest growth in the same period.

Xiamen airport now operates 12 direct passenger routes to nine Belt and Road partner countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia, and six direct cargo routes to three others, including the Philippines, Vietnam, and Luxembourg. By May 11, total flights reached 7,041, and cross-border visits hit 998,800, up 8.57 percent and 13.16 percent year on year, respectively, building an efficient "golden corridor" in the sky.

Xiamen has taken the lead in launching international flight check-in services at its urban city terminal, along with streamlined transfer clearance for international and regional flights. As a result, the transfer time between different modes of transport has been cut from 90 minutes to under 60 minutes.

In addition, a one-stop service center for inbound visitors has been set up in the terminal's arrival hall, offering travelers assistance with customs guidance, currency exchange, SIM card purchase, and travel information.
