As of April 11, Xiamen Airport had recorded 5,026 passenger flights to and from Belt and Road partner countries this year, up 12.01 percent year-on-year and reaching that mark nine days earlier than last year. Passenger traffic reached 771,300, up 14.9 percent year-on-year.

As a key regional aviation hub along China's southeastern coast, Xiamen Airport operates 16 passenger routes to and from Belt and Road partner countries, connecting 11 countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Cambodia.

It also runs five cargo routes serving these countries, reaching four nations such as the Philippines, Vietnam, and Luxembourg. These routes account for 55.17 percent of Xiamen's total passenger routes and 35.71 percent of its total cargo routes, respectively.

Links between Xiamen and Belt and Road partner countries support both passenger travel and cargo flows — helping Fujian-based businesses and products access global markets while accelerating the delivery of overseas goods to Xiamen Airport.

From cherries and salmon from South America to mud crabs and durians from Southeast Asia, more international products are reaching Chinese tables via these flights. Meanwhile, Chinese exports such as electronics, apparel, and household goods are also heading abroad along the same routes.
