The KAI YUAN KOU, a 7,500-car-equivalent-unit (CEU) liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel car carrier of COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers, was delivered, and completed its maiden voyage at Xiamen Modern Terminal on March 24.

As a green and intelligent roll-on/roll-off giant built in Xiamen, the KAI YUAN KOU set sail with a batch of vehicles, bound for Peru's Callao Port and Chile's San Antonio Port via the new Asia-Latin America land-sea corridor, boosting the reach of "intelligent manufacturing in China" into South America.

Some of the vehicles are premium models from Xiamen's King Long Motor — a perfect example of Xiamen-built vehicles on Xiamen-built ships from Xiamen Port, showcasing the city's synergy across shipbuilding, auto manufacturing, and shipping.

The KAI YUAN KOU is one of six 7,500-CEU LNG dual-fuel car carriers customized by COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers in partnership with Japan's Santoku Senpaku Co Ltd and built at Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry. Following its delivery, the vessel will be operated by Guangzhou COSCO Shipping Car Carriers Co Ltd, a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers.

At 199.9 meters long and 38 meters wide with a 25,000-nautical-mile range, the vessel features 13 vehicle decks, including four liftable decks. This allows it to flexibly accommodate various types of vehicles such as passenger cars, construction machinery, buses, and MAFI units, meeting the diverse logistics needs of the global automotive trade.
