Twenty international journalists, from the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and other parts of the world, who are in China to cover this year's two sessions, visited Xiamen from March 13 to 14 to explore this "Garden on the Sea" firsthand and experience the city's innovative development and urban construction.

During the two-day itinerary, they visited Xiatanwei Mangrove Park and Yundang Lake to experience Xiamen's ecological beauty. They also toured Xiamen University, Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University, the Silk Road Maritime Operation Center, and several Taiwan-invested enterprises, gaining insights into Xiamen's progress in medical collaboration, connectivity, and industrial integration.

At Xiatanwei Mangrove Park, the journalists observed the wetland ecosystem and learned about Xiamen's concrete measures in marine ecological protection and restoration. Charissa Sukieam, a reporter from Thailand's Matichon newspaper, planted mangrove seedlings with her colleagues.

At the hospital, the journalists toured facilities, including the helipad, and connected with scholars from the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program. The experiences of two Indian doctors offered Sitaram Mewati, from India's Mumbai Messenger, a compelling angle on China's medical progress. "China is opening its doors to global talent," he observed, "That's a key story I'll take back from Xiamen."

Reporters were also impressed by the bustling yet orderly operations of Xiamen Port, with Irfan Ashraf, a reporter from Pakistan's Samaa TV, documenting the entire visit through his lens.
