As Xiamen continues to enhance its educational resources and international business environment, Achieve Xiamen International School (AXIS) has emerged as a key pillar of its international talent strategy. This K-12 (kindergarten through 12th grade) institution serves the expatriate community across Xiamen and beyond, currently bringing together students from 25 countries and regions.
AXIS brings a world of perspectives into the classroom, with an inquiry-based, IB (International Baccalaureate)-rooted pedagogy delivered by faculty from 17 countries. Principal Bill Pearson highlights that as AI reshapes our world, human-centric skills like critical thinking and creativity are more crucial than ever. "This philosophy drives both our IB and AP curricula," he says, "We're nurturing thoughtful, adaptable youth ready to thrive amid global change."
Student voices shape the AXIS experience, with their 3D prints adorning science classrooms and their artworks inspiring campus mascots. In the classroom, small teams of international and bilingual teachers ensure no child is overlooked. The result, Pearson says, is that "every child is seen, understood, and supported".
International in outlook, yet deeply rooted in Chinese culture — that's the AXIS approach. Pearson affirms that global education requires local grounding. With Mandarin classes for all grades and immersive cultural festivities such as Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, students experience Chinese traditions firsthand.
"Our mission is to enable international talents to work with ease and feel at home in Xiamen," he affirmed. AXIS is shaping effective communicators, confident individuals, and lifelong global learners — advancing Xiamen's international vision.
