Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport welcomed 155 passengers from Sihanoukville, Cambodia, on Feb 8, marking the resumption of the direct passenger route between Xiamen and Sihanoukville after a six-year suspension.
This becomes Xiamen's second direct air link to Cambodia, following the route to Phnom Penh, further strengthening air connectivity between China's southeastern coast and Southeast Asia.
The route is operated by Cambodia Sky Angkor Airlines, with three flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Inbound flight ZA687 departs from Sihanoukville at 7:10 pm Beijing time and arrives in Xiamen at 10:20 pm, while outbound flight ZA688 departs from Xiamen at 11:20 pm Beijing time the same day and returns to Sihanoukville at 02:55 am the following morning.
Xiamen has become another key direct-connection point for Sky Angkor Airlines in China, following cities such as Changsha and Quanzhou. The launch also highlights Xiamen's geographic advantage as a gateway hub on China's southeastern coast, as well as the strong demand for cultural tourism, trade, and cross-border e-commerce between the two sides.
Xiamen airport recorded over 130,000 inbound and outbound passengers on Cambodia routes in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 46 percent.
With the route resumed, the airport now offers direct flights to 13 passenger destinations across Southeast Asia, enhancing regional connectivity and offering more travel options for passengers from Minnan (Southern Fujian) and other Chinese cities via Xiamen.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
