This year marks the 15th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Trier, Germany, and Xiamen, China. A series of celebrations have been held to deepen people-to-people exchanges and practical cooperation, strengthening the friendship between the two cities.
A delegation of 21 citizen representatives from the Trier Germany-China Friendship Association visited Xiamen from Oct 27 to 30. During their stay, the delegation and representatives from local organizations involved in the two cities' exchanges and cooperation jointly planted friendship trees at Trier Garden of Xiamen Horticulture Expo Garden. The six Fujian hill cherry trees symbolize the vibrant growth and flourishing future of the friendship between the two cities.
Professor Jurgen Hardeck, state secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Rhineland-Palatinate Germany, led a delegation from the Music Hall of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate on a visit to Xiamen from Oct 30 to Nov 2.
Artists with the delegation and Xiamen University's College of Arts jointly performed at the "Resonance Across Mountains and Seas" concert on Oct 31. The concert filled the venue with a warm and celebratory atmosphere, as the artists performed together in harmony.
The German delegation also met with local authorities and visited famous attractions including Wuyuanwan Wetland Park, Mountains-to-Sea Trail, and Zhongshan Road.
The delegation witnessed Xiamen's socioeconomic achievements and will continue promoting cultural and artistic exchanges between the two cities while deepening their friendly cooperation.
China will extend its visa-exemption arrangements to France and other countries covered by the policy to Dec 31, 2026.
