A delegation of 19 young scholars from leading think tanks in Latin American and Caribbean countries, including Cuba, Costa Rica, Mexico and Brazil, recently visited Xiamen.
During their visit to Xiamen, the delegation toured the Xiamen Special Economic Zone Memorial Hall and Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University. They engaged in academic exchanges with experts from Xiamen University's Graduate Institute for Taiwan Studies and the Belt and Road Research Institute.
The itinerary also included a visit to Gulangyu International Historic Community, where they gained insights into Xiamen's development as a special economic zone, its local implementation of the Global Development Initiative, its efforts to preserve world cultural heritage, and its achievements in promoting cross-Strait integrated development.
The Latin American scholars stated that the visit has deepened their understanding of Xiamen's practice in pursuing Chinese modernization. They expressed their commitment to actively promoting exchanges and cooperation between their respective countries with Fujian province and Xiamen, working together to build bridges of friendship.
China on June 12 granted Indonesian citizens a visa-free transit stay of up to 10 days, expanding the number of countries eligible for the policy to 55.
China will adopt a visa-free entry policy for Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain.
