The Launch of Xiamen Day was held at China Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan on June 1. The event commenced with Egret, a folk dance performed by the Xiamen Little Egret Folk Dance Art Center, followed by the screening of a promotional film for Xiamen.
The visuals showcased the city's natural beauty and azure seas and skies, along with the harmonious blend of ancient architecture and modern urban landscapes.
Government representatives of foreign national pavilions, Japanese business delegations, trade associations, corporate representatives, and executives from Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese communities in Japan gathered together to experience the charm of Xiamen.
Through exhibitions showcasing its ecological achievements, cultural highlights, and Sino-Japanese friendship, along with economic-tourism matchmaking events, Xiamen presented its urban identity to the world.
As an open and inclusive coastal city, Xiamen has always played an important role in China-Japan relations. Over the years, Xiamen has fostered deep exchanges with multiple Japanese regions, including a 40-year sister-city relationship with Sasebo, rich cultural interactions with the city of Ginowan and Kumamoto prefecture, and thriving commercial partnerships with leading Japanese enterprises such as Mitsubishi, Panasonic, and Nippon Electric Glass that have established roots in Xiamen.
As one of the key supporting events for Xiamen Day, the Xiamen-Japan Economic, Trade, and Cultural Tourism Exchange Conference was also held in Osaka, Japan. The session featured economic and trade promotions, cultural tourism presentations, and Sino-Japanese business matchmaking talks and project signing ceremonies.
