
Cui Yonghui, secretary of the Communist Party of China Xiamen Municipal Committee, led a delegation to Singapore and Japan from March 2 to 8, leveraging Xiamen's unique advantages to expand high-level opening-up, promote investment and trade development, and strengthen pragmatic cooperation and cultural exchanges.
During the visit, the delegation met with 16 well-known multinational corporations and four investment and trade promotion agencies, actively engaged in economic and trade negotiations and project matchmaking, reached a number of cooperation agreements, and facilitated the signing of several projects.
The delegation promoted Xiamen's unique advantages in terms of opening up, industrial development, and business environment, showcasing the city's high-quality, modern, and international image. They invited all visiting parties to attend the 25th China International Fair for Investment and Trade.
Singapore and Xiamen have a long history of amicable relations, including frequent exchanges. During the tour to Singapore, the delegation focused on aviation and ports, trade and logistics, technological innovation, and financial services. They visited companies such as Temasek Holdings, PSA International, and United Overseas Bank, as well as inspected the One-North and Changi Airport, paving the way for a series of collaborative successes.
Japan is a significant source of foreign investment in Xiamen, with Japanese enterprises maintaining a steady growth trend in the city. During the visit to Japan, the delegation focused on Xiamen's key industrial chains, visiting well-known companies such as Panasonic, Hitachi, and AGC.
They also held discussions and exchanges with economic organizations including Japan-China Investment Promotion Agency, the Japan-China Economic and Trade Center, and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote the establishment of a number of cooperative projects.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
