A delegation of 20 party officials from Mexico and Central American countries, who attended the Fourth China-CELAC Political Parties' Forum, visited Xiamen from Dec 6 to 8. The members of the delegation hailed from seven countries: Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala.
During the trip, the delegation toured the BRICS Partnership on the New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center, Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University, and Intretech Inc among other places.
The delegates gained firsthand insights into Xiamen's initiatives such as greater BRICS Cooperation, implementing local practices for global development initiatives, developing new productive forces, and smart manufacturing. They also visited Gulangyu Island to learn about Xiamen's experiences and practices in areas such as world cultural heritage preservation.
Members of the delegation expressed their delight at witnessing the close cooperation between Mexico, Central American countries, and Xiamen in the fields of healthcare, personnel training, and commerce and trade. They experienced firsthand the achievements of China's reform and opening-up.
What's more, the delegates said they looked forwards to more participation by young people in Central America in cooperation projects under the BRICS PartNIR Innovation Center and within the framework of global development initiatives, aiming to contribute to practical cooperation between China and Latin America.
China announced on Nov 22 the extension of its visa-exemption policy to nine more countries, including Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, and Japan, starting from the end of this month to the end of 2025.
