The press conference and opening ceremony for the 2024 Jimei × Arles International Photo Festival were held in Jimei New City on Nov 29. The festival includes 25 exquisite photography exhibitions, which feature nearly 2,000 works by artists from China, France, Spain, Germany, India, Japan, Canada, and the United States. The exhibition will run until January 12, 2025.
Among the 25 exhibitions are five from the Arles Photography Festival in France, showcasing the talents of top photographers. Additionally, there are three "Crossover Photography" section exhibitions presenting diverse perspectives from creators in fields such as music and visual arts.
Moreover, there will be exhibitions such as smartphone brand Vivo's "VISION+" project and Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu's "Inspiring Moments" photo exhibition, as well as a special collaboration exhibition with Fujifilm, showcasing works from image creators worldwide.
The festival will also conduct events such as "Parallel Exhibitions" and the "2024 Isles Project" in various locations including Xiamen, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, and Fuzhou, exploring the connection between photography and diverse urban cultures.
The exhibition, not in its 10th year, has become one of the most significant contemporary photography event in Xiamen and even across China.
Since its establishment in 2015, it has hosted over 300 exhibitions, showcasing the works of over 700 artists. It has organized more than 800 public activities and has attracted over 500,000 visitors in total.
China announced on Nov 22 the extension of its visa-exemption policy to nine more countries, including Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, and Japan, starting from the end of this month to the end of 2025.
Chinese authorities recently released revised rules on foreign investor's strategic investment in listed companies in a move to encourage foreign investors to make long-term and value investments in the country.
