Wu Bin, mayor of Xiamen in Southeast China's Fujian province, met with a delegation led by Rafael Tajra Fonteles, governor of the state of Piaui, Brazil, on Oct 13.
Wu welcomed Fonteles to Xiamen and explained Xiamen's economic and social development situation. He said that in recent years, Xiamen has had fruitful cooperation with Piaui state and there is vast potential for future collaboration.
He expressed hope that both sides will implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen BRICS innovation cooperation, strengthen project alignment, expand economic and trade exchanges, enhance cultural exchanges, and deepen and elevate cooperation, thereby contributing to the continuous deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Brazil.
Fonteles said that visiting Xiamen again a year after his last visit allowed him to fully experience the tremendous changes the city has undergone and feel the warmth and friendliness of its people.
He expressed hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to strengthen close ties with Xiamen and further deepen mutual beneficial cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, education, culture, and more between the two places, thereby benefiting the people of both regions.
