On Sept 7, during the 24th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), the Dialogue on Global Development Initiative (GDI), with the tagline "Cultivate new growth momentum for shared global development", was held in Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian province. Approximately 150 participants from over 30 countries, international organizations, foreign investment promotion agencies, central enterprises, and business representatives attended.
This dialogue is one of the 50 outcomes of the second high-level conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development. It is jointly organized by the Global Development Promotion Center (GDPC) of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Xiamen Municipal People's Government, and the China (Xiamen) International Investment Promotion Center.
During the promotion and exchange session, representatives from the Global Development Project Pool and relevant United Nations agencies shared beneficial practices for advancing the implementation of global development initiatives and the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Dr Stephen Kargbo, head of the UNIDO Regional Office in China, stated that the GDI has achieved solid results in mobilizing resources, establishing cooperation mechanisms, and promoting practical cooperation in various fields, such as poverty reduction, food security, education, and healthcare. He highlighted China's determination and ability to contribute to global well-being and shared prosperity.
While in Xiamen, the Chinese and foreign guests were also invited to attend key events of CIFIT and pay visits to the innovation training base of GDPC, Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University, and more.
Outbound travelers will be able to explore downtown duty-free shopping in more Chinese cities and more easily access consumer goods of fashionable Chinese brands, an official statement said on Aug 27.
China has introduced more than 110 measures to facilitate the entry of foreigners into China, increasing the number of foreign visitors.
