A 10-member Maldivian media delegation led by Heena Waleed, spokesperson of the Maldivian president's office, visited Xiamen from July 31 to Aug 2. They took Xiamen Airlines' first flight from Male to Xiamen, marking the start of a seven-day "Exploring Fujian" series of events.
Wu Zidong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee and minister of the Publicity Department of Xiamen, met with the delegation on July 31. He noted the increasing number of exchanges between Xiamen and the Maldives, highlighting that President Muizzu's recent visit to Xiamen significantly boosted bilateral cooperation. The new direct flight between Xiamen and Male is another vital link connecting China and the Maldives.
Wu added that Xiamen is committed to strengthening cooperation with the Maldives in various fields, including tourism, fisheries, and sports, contributing to the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Ms Waleed expressed her gratitude for Xiamen's warm hospitality and shared experiences in urban governance, the marine economy, and media management. She emphasized the Maldives' intent to enhance communication and cooperation with Xiamen.
During their visit, the delegation explored various sites, including the Xiamen Free Trade Zone, gaining deep insights into Xiamen's efforts in foreign trade, marine fisheries, environmental conservation, and cross-Strait integrated development.
