Delegation from Iguacu, Brazil, visits Xiamen

A delegation of four people, including Anice Nagib Gazzaoui, a councilwoman, and Angela Luzia Borges De Meira, director of the Environmental Bureau of Iguacu, Brazil, recently visited Xiamen.

Lin Na, vice-president of the Xiamen People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, briefly introduced Xiamen's economic and social development and the establishment of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center to the foreign guests. She also answered questions from guests regarding environmental protection and the development of the tourism industry.

Lin also mentioned that since the establishment of friendly exchanges between Xiamen and Iguacu in 2013, the two cities have cooperated closely in the fields of economy, trade, tourism, culture, and sports. 

She expressed hope that in the future, Iguacu would continue to send delegations to Xiamen to participate in international events such as investment fairs and marathons, thus expanding mutual learning and cooperation between the two cities in areas such as the natural environment and football training.

The guests from Iguacu expressed gratitude for their warm reception in Xiamen and praised Xiamen's achievements in developing an economic special zone and in its ecological civilization practices. 

They also stated that the Iguacu government has always long great importance to strengthening relations with Xiamen. They hope that in the future, the two sides can leverage their respective advantageous and distinctive industries to facilitate more practical cooperation that benefits the people of both cities.

During their visit to Xiamen, the guests toured the Xiamen Planning Exhibition Hall and the Xiamen Botanical Garden and visited the Sea World in the Xiamen Free Trade Zone to overlook Xiamen Port.
