Cui Yonghui, secretary of the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee, met with Jurg Burri, ambassador of Switzerland to China on Jan 8.
Cui said that Xiamen and Switzerland share many similarities and there is much that Xiamen can learn and draw inspiration from. He noted that the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides have become stronger and yielded fruitful results in recent years.
He also expressed hope that both sides can strengthen cooperation in areas such as technology innovation, industrial development, and vocational education under the framework of the China-Switzerland innovative strategic partnership.
Cui pointed out that Xiamen will continue to create a first-class business environment as it continues to build an innovative ecosystem and provide better conditions for the development of Swiss companies such as ABB in Xiamen.
Xiamen welcomes more Swiss enterprises to visit and invest and achieve mutually beneficial development, Cui added.
Ambassador Burri commended the achievements in Xiamen's economic and social development and expressed gratitude for the support and assistance provided to Swiss companies in Xiamen.
He said that Xiamen is open, inclusive, livable, and has a good business environment.
He added that Switzerland is willing to deepen exchanges and interactions with Xiamen, promote two-way investment and trade, and achieve common prosperity and development. This will further serve the development of the China-Switzerland innovative strategic partnership.
China now enjoys comprehensive mutual visa exemption with 23 countries after reaching an agreement on mutual visa exemption with Thailand on Jan 28.
