The 2023 Xiamen International Friendship Concert by the Amsterdam Chamber Orchestra was held at the Xiamen Poly Theatre on Dec 28.
Attendees included representatives from foreign consulates in Xiamen, delegates from sister cities, foreign executives from relevant corporate organizations, esteemed citizens of Xiamen, experts, representatives of international faculty and students from universities, and nearly 1,000 citizens.
During the concert, the Amsterdam Chamber Orchestra showcased their exceptional skills through their performances of musical compositions by Brahms, Strauss, and the Chinese folk song Jasmine Flower.
The encore piece Auld Lang Syne was performed by children from Xiamen No.1 High School's Jimei Branch Choir and foreign artists.
That same evening, the "Travel Photography" Friendship City Photo Exhibition 2023 was hosted in the theater's lobby.
The Xiamen International Friendship Concert is a public diplomacy brand event initiated by the Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen Municipal People's Government and the Xiamen People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. It was first held in 2010 and has organized 13 editions to date.
Through thematic concerts, it provided Xiamen residents and foreigners living in Xiamen with the opportunity to enjoy world-class performances without leaving Xiamen, thus becoming an important platform for promoting international friendship.
