In the "Crossover Photography" section, viewers can see the photographs by artists known for other art forms. This year, artists highlighted in this section are actress Huang Xiangli, known for her monodrama Letter from an Unknown Woman adapted from Austrian writer Stefan Zweig's eponymous novella; sculptor Jiang Sheng, famous for his contemporary Buddha sculptures that emanate calmness and inspire introspection; and cinematographer and film director Yu Li-kwai, who has served as director of photography for nearly all Chinese auteur director Jia Zhangke's films.
Anyone who wants to delve into the recent history of Xiamen should head to "Collector's Tale", a section that turns the spotlight on photography collectors and collecting institutions in Asia. This year's exhibition presents a treasured collection of Liu Gang, featuring 38 original album prints capturing the entire visit of the Great White Fleet of the United States to Xiamen in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), which is a witness to Xiamen's role as one of the treaty ports in modern Chinese history.
