The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security's foreign expertise research center recently released the results of the "Amazing China 2022 – Most Attractive Chinese Cities for Expats" at the inauguration ceremony of the Hangzhou International Talent Exchange and Project Cooperation Conference.
Xiamen was once again selected as one of the "Amazing China 2022 – the Most Attractive Chinese Cities for Expats".
A total of 42 sample cities were selected for this event, and a total of 6,095 questionnaires were recovered. The top 20 cities are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Qingdao, Nanjing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xiamen, Changzhou, Changsha, Jinan, Xi'an, Ningbo, Kunming, Changchun, Wuhan, and Foshan.
A series of measures have been introduced over the years to attract more international talents to Xiamen. In March, the Xiamen talent attraction alliance was officially established.
Presently, 92 companies and 11 corporate institutions related to industries such as electronic information, machinery and equipment, financial services, biomedicine, and new materials have joined the alliance.
In addition, Xiamen has been actively recruiting talent. Authorities have also established an international talent workstation in Beijing to promote talent projects and cooperation between Xiamen and Beijing.
Xiamen has since 2017 been organizing overseas entrepreneurship competitions through market-oriented institutions to attract more overseas-educated talents and international talents to start businesses in the city.
To date, the competition has attracted more than 900 talent projects related to industries such as information technology, artificial intelligence, intelligent manufacturing, and biopharmaceuticals.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
