Cui Yonghui, secretary of the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee, met with a delegation from the permanent representatives committee to Association of Southeast Asian Nations on Oct 22. Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN Hou Yanqi attended the meeting.

Cui extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed his gratitude for the long-term attention and support that the permanent representatives committee to ASEAN has provided to Xiamen.

Xiamen has for many years had close exchanges and interactions with ASEAN countries, and the level of cooperation has been continuously upgraded, said Cui. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the proposal to build a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Xiamen will leverage its advantages in opening-up, actively serve and integrate itself into the construction of the BRI, and work closely with ASEAN countries to deepen cooperation, continuously improve people's livelihood and happiness, and make new and greater contributions to building a shared future for China and ASEAN, he added.

H.E. Aung Myo Myint, the delegation leader and Myanmar's permanent representative to ASEAN, praised the remarkable achievements of Xiamen's development and said that Xiamen has played a significant role in promoting friendly relations between ASEAN countries and China. He also noted that he has personally experienced China's great achievements in reform and opening-up through the visit.
