Xiamen Friendship City Photo Exhibition 2023 Celebrating the Anniversaries of Friendship City relationships opened on Sept 8 in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Xiamen's friendship city relationships with Cardiff in the United Kingdom and Sasebo in Japan, the 30th anniversary with Penang in Malaysia, the 20th anniversary with Guadalajara in Mexico, the 10th anniversary with Dushanbe in Tajikistan, and the fifth anniversary with Izmir in Turkiye.
The photo exhibition displayed the cultural customs and exchanges of the seven cities.
Chen Zixuan, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Xiamen People's Congress, said that Xiamen has over the past four decades made significant achievements and forged closer ties with international cities.
International friendly city relationships play an active role in promoting the internationalization of a city and boosting its development.
Xiamen has since 1983 forged sister city relations with 22 cities, international friendly exchange relations with 14 cities, and friendly relations with 17 international ports.
The photo exhibition was held at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center from Sept 8 to 11.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
