The Consulate General of Singapore in Xiamen held a National Day reception in Xiamen, Fujian province, on Aug 4 to celebrate the 58th National Day of Singapore.
Zhuang Rongliang, vice-mayor of Xiamen, attended the event and extended his warm greetings to the Singaporean guests.
He said that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, the China-Singapore relationship had been elevated to a "comprehensive and forward-looking partnership of high quality".
Zhuang highlighted the deep historical ties between Xiamen and Singapore and expressed his desire for strengthened cooperation in industrial development, urban governance, and the establishment of a world-class business environment.
Zhuang emphasized the great opportunities available in the city to encourage more Singaporean companies to invest and establish businesses in Xiamen.
Nelson Ng Chiun Ming, consul general of Singapore in Xiamen, said that Singapore maintains close economic and cultural exchanges with Fujian and Xiamen. He expressed his hope to further promote interconnectivity between Singapore, Fujian and Xiamen, building upon their already solid foundation for cooperation.
He emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration in areas such as green development, digital economy, and port construction in order to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
