1. Xiamen, Rio Grande do Norte hold online meeting

The foreign affairs office of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province and the economic development department of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, held their first video meeting online on Feb 23.

Lin Na, vice-president of the Xiamen People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, presided over the meeting. She introduced the achievements of communication between Xiamen's modern industries and Brazil over the past years and expressed hope that the two sides will deepen cooperation in education, new energy and mining.

The head of Rio Grande do Norte's economic development department explained the region's economic and social development and its key areas for investment attraction. He said the region boasts abundant renewable resources such as wind power and solar power and he hopes to promote cooperation with Xiamen in clean energy, mineral development, as well as high-end new technology.

2. Xiamen foreign affairs official meets Norwegian diplomat

Zhang Quan, director general of Xiamen's foreign affairs office, on Feb 24 met with Hege Araldsen, Norwegian consul general in Guangzhou.

Zhang extended a warm welcome to Araldsen and briefed her on the current situation of Xiamen's economic and social development.

Zhang also expressed his hope that the Norwegian consulate general in Guangzhou will continue to promote exchange and cooperation between Norwegian companies and Xiamen, especially in fields such as maritime economy, green development and culture.

Araldsen said that her country boasts abundant maritime resources, with about 70 percent of its exports related to the ocean. She added that there is ample room for the two sides to deepen cooperation in sustainable maritime economy.

3. Uzbek officials visit Xiamen

A delegation headed by Maxmudaliyev, governor of the Syrdarya region in Uzbekistan, visited Xiamen from Feb 23 to 25 to promote the region's investment environment and seek cooperation opportunities with the Chinese coastal city.

During the trip, the delegation looked around the workshop of Xiamen Hithium Energy Storage Technology Co, a leading new-energy company in Xiamen, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Xiamen ITG Group.

Xiamen ITG Group established an investment company in Uzbekistan in 2021. The group plans to expand its presence in the local textile industrial chain and to promote international cooperation in textiles, electromechanical devices, home appliances and new energy.

Maxmudaliyev said his trip to Xiamen was short yet fruitful and he was impressed by the city's beautiful environment, pleasant climate and dynamic development.
