The China Photographers Association and the Xiamen government signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Feb 23 by which the city will host the National Photographic Art Exhibition for five consecutive sessions over the next 10 years. This year's exhibition will be the 29th edition.
Launched in 1957 and jointly sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Photographers Association, the event is a comprehensive photography art exhibition with a decisive influence based on its scale and history.
It has been held for 28 sessions so far, displaying the development and achievements of contemporary photography by publicizing numerous masterpieces and talents.
Xiamen, a beautiful city and one of the first special economic zones in China, has a mixture of Chinese and Western cultures and boasts profound cultural heritage. A perfect fit with photography art, Xiamen is recognized as a "natural studio" and a first-class photography destination.
The long-term settlement of the National Photography Art Exhibition will help Xiamen to develop as a "cultural center, a city of art and an island of music", enhance the brand value of the event and greatly contribute to the development of culture and art in Fujian province.
