International students from the Xiamen University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Urban Environment recently visited the Xiamen Software Park in the coastal city in Fujian province to learn about local sci-tech companies' development, their talent demand and the park's one-stop services for expats.
The one-stop service window was set up at the park in August 2020 and offers efficient services for expats in Xiamen, such as work permits, residential permits and foreign professional evaluations.
An entrepreneurship and employment base for international students and a start-up and innovation internship base for overseas students were also established at the park in June as part of the city's efforts to create a more inclusive and opening-up development climate for international talents.
International students who start a business in the bases in accordance with the city's supporting policies are eligible to financial subsidies ranging from 200,000 yuan ($28,740) to 500,000 yuan.
Foreign graduates who hold a bachelor's degree or above from recognized universities and are employed in the bases can apply for a one-year foreigner's work permit (B type).
The bases are also planning to open more sub venues across the city to bring more convenience and create a favorable environment for international students to work or start businesses in Xiamen.
China has launched a new pilot program to allow eligible enterprises greater access to overseas financing in support of green and low-carbon transformation projects, the country's foreign exchange regulator said on Aug 21.
To further streamline the experience, China is expanding tax refund stores, broadening the range of refundable goods, and refining refund procedures, ensuring an efficient and seamless shopping experience for global visitors.
