The Consulate-General of Singapore in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, held a reception on Aug 26 to celebrate the country's 57th National Day.
Fujian and Singapore have maintained a long and deep cultural and economic relationship, and have achieved fruitful results through cooperation.
Statistics show that there are more than 1,800 Singapore-funded projects in Fujian, covering a wide range of fields such as port management, airplane engine maintenance, modern logistics, educational consultation, financial services and modern services.
In 2021, the import and export volume between Singapore and Fujian increased by 7.2 percent year-on-year to $2.92 billion.

Since last year, China and Singapore have also expanded cooperation in public health and legal affairs. The Fujian (Xiamen) – Singapore Friendship Polyclinic celebrated the 10th anniversary of its founding in December 2021, and in April, the 2nd Singapore-China International Commercial Dispute Resolution Conference was held simultaneously in Xiamen, Beijing and Singapore.
Nelson Ng Chiun Ming, Singaporean consul general in Xiamen, said at the reception that Singaporean companies are looking forward to participating in Fujian's future development and expecting Fujian's further opening-up, which will facilitate cultural exchange and create more business and investment opportunities between the two sides.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
