A new foreign trade shipping route to the Port of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam was added to Xiamen Port in Xiamen, Fujian province, Xiamen Daily reported on May 10.
This is Xiamen Port's 88th shipping route to ports in countries under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement.
The new shipping route is expected to bring about 500 twenty-foot equivalent units of container volume growth per week.
The new route will further tighten the foreign trade trunk network from Xiamen Port to the Port of Ho Chi Minh City and provide more high-quality logistics solutions for manufacturers in Fujian province and the entire southeast coast to ensure the stable and smooth supply chain of the foreign trade industry, Xiamen Container Terminal Group officials said.
Xiamen Port ranks 13th among container ports around the world and is one of China's four major international shipping centers. Relying on the Belt and Road Initiative and the RCEP agreement, Xiamen Port has developed itself into a vital container port hub along the southeast coast.
