Netanya is located in central Israel, north of the capital of Tel Aviv. Located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, the city is far away from the war in the Middle East. With a mild and comfortable climate and 14 kilometers of beaches, it is an important tourist resort city in Israel.
Netanya covers an area of 28.5 square kilometers and has a population of nearly 200,000. It is also home to high-tech companies from Silicon Valley, as well as Israeli telecom companies and pharmaceutical factories.
The city is similar to Xiamen in terms of geography. It has promising economic prospects with a focus on diamond trading. Netanya has sister-city relations with 11 cities in Europe and the Americas.
Xiamen and Netanya signed an agreement on Jan 5, 2015 to establish friendly ties.
