Slupsk is located in the Pomerania region of Poland, adjacent to the downstream of the Slupia River and 18 kilometers north of the Baltic Sea Coast. It established international friendly exchange ties with Xiamen in East China's Fujian province on Sept 8, 2011.
It is an important hub on the coastal railway, connecting Gdansk to the east and Sidaszczyn to the west, making it the economic, cultural, scientific and tourism center of the coastal province in northern Poland.
The city has a population of about 96,000 and covers an area of 43 square kilometers, including 17 square kilometers of arable land and 5 square kilometers of forest.
Slupsk is considered the industrial center of the Pomerania region. It has been dubbed "the capital of plastics and shoes" because of its vibrant metal manufacturing industry and production of plastic, footwears, buses, doors and windows. There are approximately 14,000 companies in Slupsk, of which 150 are multinationals.
Slupsk is the cultural and scientific center of Pomerania. The city has two major institutions of higher education and dozens of high schools and colleges offering classes in Polish and foreign languages.

Here, visitors can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and admire cultural relics such as the leaning tower of a Saint Virgin Mary's church, the oldest operating elevator in Europe, and works of the famous Polish artistic and literary writer Witkacy.
