Tips for visiting Xiamen during Spring Festival travel rush

(fao.xm.gov.cn) Updated:2021-02-03

The annual Spring Festival travel rush has begun on Jan 28 and will last 40 days until March 8. What do you need to know about the COVID-19 prevention measures when visiting Xiamen in East China's Fujian province? Let's take a look!

1. Tips for people from medium and high-risk areas

People from high-risk areas and those who have traveled to high-risk areas within 14 days are not allowed to visit Xiamen during the Spring Festival travel rush.

People from medium-risk areas and those who have traveled to medium-risk areas within 14 days are also encouraged to stay put. If they have to visit Xiamen, they must have the approval from the local epidemic prevention authority, hold a negative nucleic acid test result taken within 72 hours of their arrival, undergo 14-day medical observation, and take nucleic acid tests in accordance with the city's epidemic prevention and control rules.

People from cities that have medium and high-risk areas must hold a negative nucleic acid test result taken within seven days of their arrival. Otherwise they must take the test arranged by local epidemic prevention authorities at their own expense.

These people who will visit the rural area of Xiamen must report their arrival at least 24 hours in advance to the village or community they reside in and register their information upon arrival. These people are also required to undergo a 14-day health monitoring at home, during which they are required to stay put, avoid gathering, and take a nucleic acid test every seven days.

2. Tips for people from low-risk areas

People from low-risk areas who have suffered from any of these symptoms -- fever, cough, sore throat, diarrhea, hypogeusia, and hyposmia – are advised not to visit Xiamen during the Spring Festival travel rush.

People from low-risk areas who deal with imported cold chain products, customs inspection, as well as those who work at quarantine venues are also advised to stay put.

If these people have to visit Xiamen, a negative nucleic acid test result taken within seven days of their arrival is required.

These people, along with others coming from low-risk areas who are visiting the rural areas of Xiamen, must report their arrival at least 24 hours in advance to the village or community they reside in and register their information upon arrival. They are also required to undergo a 14-day health monitoring at home, during which they are required to stay put, avoid gathering, and take a nucleic acid test every seven days.

People from low-risk areas, other than the aforementioned groups, are required to have a green QR health code, ensure their body temperature is normal, and take strict personal protective measures when traveling in an orderly manner.

3. What's the definition of the rural area in Xiamen?

All administrative villages are subject to the epidemic prevention and control measures for the rural area in Xiamen. The specific definition will be based on the government announcements of the four districts outside Xiamen Island.

4. Where to take a nucleic acid test in Xiamen?

Individuals, companies, institutions, and government departments can call 96166 or the telephone numbers of local testing sites to make an appointment for the test. Local residents can also make an appointment on WeChat accounts "美丽厦门 智慧健康" or "i厦门".
