1. Thai National Day celebrations held in Xiamen

The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Xiamen held a reception banquet on Dec 4 to celebrate the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, which falls on Dec 5.
Lin Jian, vice-mayor of Xiamen, attended the celebrations and expressed his best wishes to the consulate-general and Thai people in the city.
Lin also thanked the consulate-general for its efforts to promote exchange between Xiamen and Thailand and its support in the city's fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.
Pirawat Atsavapranee, consul general of Thailand in Xiamen, stated that 2020 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. The consulate-general will continue to strengthen bilateral ties and facilitate communication and cooperation.
2. XMFAO welcomes consul general of Hungary

Szillard Bolla, consul general of Hungary in Shanghai, visited the foreign affairs office of Xiamen, Fujian province (XMFAO) on Dec 10.
Yao Jianhong, deputy director general of XMFAO, welcomed the consul general and introduced Xiamen's current development situation.
According to Yao, the regional gross domestic product in Xiamen realized a 3.1-percent growth despite the COVID-19 outbreak during the first three quarters of this year, and a BRICS Partnership on the New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center was recently launched in the city.
Bolla congratulated Xiamen on its achievements in controlling the epidemic while ensuring stable economic and social development. He said that his country is seeking more opportunities to strengthen cooperation with Xiamen in commerce, culture, and sports.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
