A promotional conference for Tong'an district in Xiamen, Fujian province was held in the coastal city on Nov 20, with representatives from seven local companies from the Republic of Korea (ROK) in attendance.
The event was organized by the foreign affairs office of Xiamen (XMFAO) as part of efforts to foster greater communication between XMFAO and ROK companies, help ROK businesspeople learn about Xiamen's business environment and attract more investment from ROK to the city.
Xiamen boasts a unique geographical advantage on the Maritime Silk Road, said Li Xiaoping, director of XMFAO, during the conference.
Li revealed that the city will soon begin building a BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution innovation center to advance cooperation on policy coordination, personnel training and project development, which will create more development opportunities for ROK companies.
Byun Ho-sik, chairman of the ROK chamber of commerce in Xiamen, thanked XMFAO and the Tong'an government for arranging the activity which helped them learn more about the preferential policies and supporting facilities in Tong'an.
"The trip has reassured me that my choice to start a business in Xiamen is right. It has also left me confident of future development in the city," said Byun.
Byun stated that the chamber will organize more ROK companies to visit Tong'an and seek cooperation opportunities.
