The foreign affairs office of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province (XMFAO), held a video conference with the city council of Sunshine Coast, Australia on Oct 29.
The two sides discussed industrial development, epidemic prevention and control, the reopening of schools and companies, bilateral trade, and education.
Lin Na, senior investigator of XMFAO, briefed her Australian counterparts on the office's duties and its efforts to help companies resume production and promote international cooperation amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
Lin said that XMFAO has attached great importance to Xiamen's sister-city relationship with Sunshine Coast and will continue working to strengthen and expand the relationship.
Alex Lever-Shaw, head of the trade and investment sector of the Australian city council, said that his visit to Xiamen last year left a positive impression on him. He expressed hope that the two sides would maintain regular contact and work together in e-commerce and online promotions.
