1. Xiamen holds reception for foreign diplomats

The foreign affairs offices of Fujian province and the city of Xiamen jointly hosted a reception in honor of foreign diplomatic missions to China in the coastal city on Sept 8 as part of the 2020 China International Fair for Investment and Trade, which kicked off on the same day, Xiamen Daily reported.
More than 60 diplomats from 35 foreign embassies and consulate-generals attended the reception to discuss future cooperation with Xiamen.
The foreign affairs office of Xiamen worked with the city's commerce bureau to promote Xiamen's latest investment policies and business environment during the event. Local industrial leaders were also invited to share their outbound investment experience and facilitate cooperation.
Before the reception, a cultural display was set up for foreign diplomats, giving them the chance to learn about intangible cultural heritage items in Xiamen.
2. Xiamen discusses cooperation with Japan, ROK

A matchmaking meeting for companies and organizations from Xiamen, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) was held by the city's foreign affairs office on Sept 8.
Representatives from Xiamen-based Japanese and ROK companies and attendees from the two countries to the 2020 China International Fair for Investment and Trade discussed cooperation potential with officials from Xiamen's culture, tourism, and commerce departments, as well as local business representatives.
Officials said that since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, Xiamen and its friendship cities in Japan and ROK have donated essential supplies and shared their experiences fighting the epidemic with each other, setting a good example for the rest of the world.
The meeting was meant to further strengthen Xiamen's ties with local governments in the two countries in trade, culture and tourism.

A promotional conference for the Russian Republic of Tatarstan was held in Xiamen, Fujian province on Sept 9.
About 40 representatives from over 10 Xiamen companies involved in foreign trade, new energy, international logistics and information technology attended the event, where a commerce official from Tatarstan introduced investment opportunities in his country.
During the Q&A session, local business representatives asked a series of questions about infrastructure, taxation policies and work permits in Tatarstan and received detailed answers.
An official from the Xiamen foreign affairs office said that there is much room for cooperation between Xiamen and Tatarstan in terms of culture, education, and science and technology.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
