Important political officials spoke highly of the 2020 CIFIT while attending the annual fair in Xiamen, Fujian province, on Sept 8.
Bahlil Lahadalia, chairman of the Indonesian Investment Coordination Board, said that it is important to promote international investment and cooperation through the 2020 CIFIT, which was held as scheduled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Abdulla Al Saleh, under secretary of Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), agreed with this statement. Saleh refers to himself as an "old friend of CIFIT".
Saleh encouraged more Chinese companies to cooperate with the UAE in a variety of fields.
Lim Jock Hoi, secretary general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), noted that the pandemic is not only a public health crisis, but also poses an extensive threat to the global economy.
The ASEAN and China should strengthen cooperation in supply chains and shore up the confidence of investors in the two regions, Lim said.

CIFIT's organizing committee also launched an Online CIFIT, which is meant to help business insiders interact more conveniently and discover new investment projects and opportunities.
Luis Monsalve, ambassador of Colombia to China, remarked that Online CIFIT will definitely provide a boost to international investment and cooperation.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
